Overview

Responsibilities

Assure timely and accurate financial reporting; manage 2-7 staff; assure internal controls are adhered to; assure accurate and timely payment of expenses; provide detailed attention to cash monitoring and reporting; understand, maintain, train others and utilize Yardi software; timely completion of audits; assists controller, accounting department and operations personnel in achieving company goals.

  • Assure timely and accurate preparation and distribution of financial information.
  • Apply working knowledge of GAAP and cash basis accounting.
  • Performs month-end financial statement process, preparation, review and analysis.
  • Analyze budget variances and make corrections as necessary; suggest and assist implementing procedures to prevent recurring errors.
  • Assist in the process of searching, interviewing and hiring direct reports.
  • Communicate job descriptions to staff; plan, monitor, appraise and review staff performance.
  • Enforce company and department policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and reconcile account balances.
  • Assure timely completion of audits.
  • Assure adherence to internal controls by self and staff.
  • Review, assist and approve work performed by staff.
  • Closely monitor, review, track and protect company cash/bank balances.
  • Assure proper coding and maintenance of chart of accounts.
  • Protect confidential material and information.
  • Possess and/or quickly develop expertise with Yardi software at an intermediate to advanced level.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • BS Degree in Business/Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience accounting experience with minimum 2 years real estate experience, including partnership tax
  • Experience with cash management/treasury functions
  • Proficient understanding of financial reporting
  • Experienced at tracking and analyzing costs and budgets
  • Excellent computer skills, specifically Microsoft Excel. Yardi or similar accounting software experience a plus
