Overview

MG Properties Group is seeking a Director of Accounting to join our amazing Accounting & Fiance team.  The Director of Accounting will assure timely and accurate financial reporting; oversee Accounting Staff; assure internal and budgetary controls are adhered to; oversee Corporate Accounting for Principal and Subsidiary companies; provide detailed attention to cash monitoring, budgeting and reporting; understand, document, maintain and train others, regarding MG Accounting Policies and Procedure; assists CFO, Accounting department and Operations personnel in achieving company goals.

Responsibilities

  • Assure timely and accurate preparation and distribution of Property, Principal and Subsidiary financial information.
  • Apply comprehensive knowledge of GAAP and cash basis accounting.
  • Ability to lead and motivate teams to produce quality performance and results within tight timeframes and manage several projects in a faced paced environment.
  • Maintain and monitor the system of internal accounting controls and ensure their efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively, while earning and maintaining the trust of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including ability to present information to many diverse individuals and groups within and outside MGPG.
  • Highly analytical and results oriented.
  • Evidence of creativity, integrity, work ethic and thoughtful judgement.
  • Highly organized with strong project management skills, and drive to meet organizational objectives.
  • Analyze budget  variances  and  make  corrections  as  necessary;  suggest  and  assist implementing procedures to prevent recurring errors.
  • Mentor and assist Property Accounting Mangers with all Accounting related issues
  • Communicate job  descriptions  to  staff;  plan,  monitor,  appraise  and  review  staff
  • Anticipate and respond to accounting and organizational issues by making recommendations for necessary changes to MGPG Policies
  • Review, assist and approve work performed by Property Accounting Managers and staff.
  • Closely monitor, review, track and protect Company cash/bank Work with Tax and Treasury Manager and CFO in securing and maintaining Banking Relationships
  • Assure proper coding and maintenance of chart of accounts.
  • Protect confidential material and information.
  • Part of the Senior Level Management team entrusted with developing and completing company initiatives.
  • Reports to the CFO - Assist personnel in other departments as needed or directed by CFO
  • Train, assign, schedule, coach, counsel, and discipline direct
  • Assist with budget process
  • Review and sign checks
  • Provide assistance to Corporate Tax and Treasury Manager, directly and through access to

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Accounting or Finance
  • CPA License Preferred
  • Minimum eight years’ accounting and management experience with minimum 2 years real estate accounting experience.
  • At least five years’ experience of leading, planning and managing personnel in a team oriented office
  • Comprehensive understanding of financial reporting
  • Experienced at tracking and analyzing costs and budgets.
  • Excellent computer skills, specifically Microsoft Excel.  Yardi or similar accounting software experience a plus
