    Responsibilities

    The ideal candidate for this job will be self- motivated and highly proficient in administering all areas of payroll processing for 400+ employees across five western states.   This individual ensures compliance of all lawful policies and practices and is the primary administrator for the Company automated timekeeping system.   The processing of bi-weekly payroll responsibilities will include producing accounting reports for proper cost allocation to the multi-site entities.  The Payroll Specialist works closely with the Human Resources Department to maintain all required and appropriate records for employment related matters.  Maintains confidentiality at all times.

     

    Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Maintains employee data in payroll system and HRIS system.
    • Administers and maintains company timekeeping system providing training to new-hires and managers.
    • Responds to employee inquiries regarding payroll, procedures, benefits, and programs.
    • Payroll preparation and check distribution.
    • Prepares payroll reports for accountants and designates
    • Assists state agencies with wage assignments, disability, etc.
    • Tracking and processing of all court ordered wage garnishments.
    • Assists with annual Workers Comp Audit.
    • Administers payment of Company-sponsored benefits such as paid time off, sick and holiday pay.
    • Assists Accounting Manager and HR Director with special projects as assigned.
    • Tracks reasons for termination and turnover analysis.
    • Completes payroll portion of monthly Human Resources Report.
    • Enters new employee data in to the ADP system.
    • Assist with accounting cycle/month end close process.
    • Prepare/input monthly journal entries as needed.
    • Assist with monthly financial statement variance analyses.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
    • 3-5 years previous payroll experience.
    • Experience processing multi-state payroll, predominately California Wage & Hour laws. 
    • Proficiency in computer applications including ADP Workforce Now, MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and close projects/resolve problems quickly but thoroughly.
    • Highly effective interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent organizing and prioritizing skills.
    • Able to work with and effectively convey ideas to a diverse employee population.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
